NEW IN 2021!Legal Lowdown

OCHH Legal Lowdown

The last Tuesday of every month (with the exception of the January session), attorneys at Orten Cavanagh Holmes & Hunt will alternate hosting an hour long virtual Q&A discussion for community association managers on a pre-determined topic.  These sessions are set up in a virtual “office hour” style and are not certified for CMCA credit.

Attendance* is capped at 25 CAMs per session, so check out our upcoming sessions and get registered below!

*Your attendance automatically enters you into a drawing held at the end of each OCHH Legal Lowdown session.
January 19, 2021 - Electronic Meetings/Voting

We launch our OCHH Legal Lowdown with attorney Eric R. McLennan hosting our session on electronic meetings and voting.  Through the chaos of last year, and the unpredictability of this year, we continue to receive questions pertaining to virtual meetings.

  • What does the law say about holding meetings virtually?
  • What are the mechanics of voting virtually?
  • What platforms are available for HOA members to hold a vote?

Bring your questions – Eric will bring answers.

Please note that this session takes place a week earlier than all other OCHH Legal Lowdown sessions to accommodate for the 2021 CAI Law Seminar.

February 23, 2021 - Social Media in Common Interest Communities

Social media can be a great tool for CICs.  But, as with using any tool, there are risks involved.  Attorney Aaron J. Goodlock hosts our second OCHH Legal Lowdown, where he’ll be discussing pitfalls to avoid and benefits in using social media platforms in your common interest community.

March 30, 2021 - HOA Records

Association record-keeping is a key element to maintaining smooth operation of a common interest community.  Board members often require your assistance (as the CAM) in grasping the rules/legislation on record-keeping: how long to maintain records; which records should be made available to owners; which should not be made available, etc.  Attorney Kelly G. Morrow will spend this month’s OCHH Legal Lowdown discussing CCIOA’s requirements for record-keeping to better prepare you in effectively fielding the Board’s inevitable questions.
